Meet the Speakers

Daya is thrilled to welcome Alka Joshi as our 2026 Gala Keynote Speaker!

Alka Joshi

International Best Selling Author

Alka Joshi is the internationally bestselling author of The Henna Artist, The Secret Keeper of Jaipur and The Perfumist of Paris. Her first novel, The Henna Artist, a NYT Bestseller and a Reese Witherspoon Bookclub Pick, was Longlisted for the "Center for Fiction First Novel Prize" and translated into 30 languages. Alka spent 30 years in the fields of marketing and advertising before becoming a full-time debut author at 62. She was named on the Forbes 50 Over 50 List as a woman defying gender and age expectations. Born in India, Alka came to the U.S. at nine and earned a BA from Stanford University and an MFA from California College of the Arts. Her 4th novel, Six Days in Bombay, will be followed by a 5th in March 2027. She lives in California.

We are honored to welcome a former Daya client who will share her powerful journey of courage, strength, and reclaiming independence. Her story stands as a bold reminder of the resilience and determination that can lead to healing and freedom.

 

She first came to Daya in 2019 and received support through safety planning, case management, and financial assistance, which helped her build a path toward empowerment and independence.
